Hi and welcome to MyHolisticLife.com.
Looking back I now recognise that from a very young age being brought up in a small Scottish community near to Samye Lings Buddhist Centre, some of the people I’ve been fortunate enough to meet, and some of the amazing places I have been lucky enough to travel to there has always had an undercurrent of spiritualty and holistic living flowing through and inter twining at various points within my life.
Like many, this undercurrent largely went unnoticed at the time when work and accumulating “stuff “seemed to be the priority. I would beat myself up over not making a promotion or not getting the job I applied for. I would run myself into the ground performing, pleasing, and attempting to prove myself to the world.
Fourteen years ago there started a series of life changing events and a chance meeting which, three years ago, culminated in me losing everything that I had held dear to me. I didn’t know it at the time but it was to be the start of the next part of a journey that, would lead to the creation of MyHolisticLife.Com.
I began to explore ways of living more holistically and found like many that there was more to life than striving, achieving, and hustling for worthiness. On my holistic journey I found that here was a way of living that gave time for reflection, to breathe and to slow down. Here are some of the things that I have learned.
Find your true path; don’t become preoccupied with success and status, materialism and jealousy, or power and pride. Follow your heart, to find your peace, your passion, and your purpose. There doesn’t necessarily have to be a finite plan, take your time, enjoy the journey and you might surprise yourself.
Don’t be too hard on yourself, by following our heart and loving ourselves through the ups and downs of life, we learn that we are worthy of love and deserve to feel loved. Without being able to love yourself, it is very difficult to share that love with anyone else.
Doing something good for someone or something else no matter how small makes you feel good about yourself. Throw a stick for a dog and watch his face light up, or give your seat on the train to an elderly person and see how you feel.
It also doesn’t hurt to just step off and breathe once in a while.
So what’s it all about then you’re thinking? Well, during my journey I found that at times it became somewhat frustrating trying to find what I was looking for and how to connect to the holistic community and I thought that based on my experience there were probably many others feeling the same way. I also found the holistic community was also struggling to reach a wider community and so I thought what if you could have a place that brings the holistic community together? To allow them to share ideas and services to the wider community and wouldn’t it be great if people such as myself were able to access the holistic community though a one stop shop? And so MyHolisticLife.Com became the next part of my journey.
