Diamond Mind by Rob Nairn
About the Author:
Rob Nairn is an international author and presenter of Buddhism and meditation. He initially came into contact with buddhism through meeting a Theravadin monk in the 1960’s after which he studied its traditions for the next 10 years. In 1989 -1993 he went on a 4 year isolation retreat at the Kagyu Samy Ling Monastery and Tibetan Centre in the Scottish Borders. He is head representative of the Karma Kagyu lineage in Southern Africa.
Diamond mind is a wonderful introduction into meditation and mindfulness. In it the author takes us on a journey through understanding the definition of meditation and mindfulness, and how our minds think and react to re-occurring situations in everyday life. The book goes on to guide us through the practice of meditation (and its pitfalls and barriers) via a series of specific practices and question and answer sessions to enable us to release and dissolve the conditioning and unresolved issues that get in our way.
The book is not written in manner which seeks to enshrine meditation in some mystic cloak rather it is written in a concise manner with humour and clarity. Diamond Mind will appeal to not only appeal to those who are setting out to discover meditation but also those who already have a practise and seek to help deepen their meditation.
